. I’m a instructional coach that works in Hayward Unified in California. I support K-6 teachers with all things literacy. I joined this community of educators because I love all things picture books. I honestly think that no child is too old for an amazing picture book.  I joined this community because I’m struggling to find concrete ways to support my amazing staff with synchroous and asynchrounous learning ideas during distance learning.  I truly think that read alouds might be the place to start.

        Hi Lisa!

You and I are on the SAME PAGE.  Picture books are so powerful.  You have to tell a complete story in 32 pages and sometimes the illustrations tell the entire story without any words.  Read alouds are definitely a great start with asynchronous learning.  Having your teachers show their faces at least when reading is really critical.  I had really low engagement with videos where all you could see was the book and not my face.
